REVERSE OSMOSIS FOR WATER TREATMENT IN MARYLAND

Why Choose Reverse Osmosis (RO)?

If you’re seeking clean, great-tasting water free of many impurities, a reverse osmosis system is one of the most effective home water treatment solutions. RO uses water pressure to push water through a semipermeable membrane that removes dissolved solids, reducing contaminants like nitrates, heavy metals, chlorine byproducts, and more. After filtration, you get “product” water while the concentrated waste water is flushed away.

Typical RO systems include:

  • A pre-filter (sediment / carbon) to remove particulates and chlorine
  • The RO membrane
  • A storage tank
  • A post-carbon filter to polish the water before it reaches your tap

How Reverse Osmosis Works — Simplified

  1. Pretreatment
Incoming water flows through sediment and activated carbon filters, which remove particulate matter, chlorine, and other large contaminants.
  2. Membrane Filtration
The pretreated water is forced through the RO membrane under pressure. The membrane traps dissolved solids, releasing clean (permeate) water on one side and concentrated waste (reject) water on the other.
  3. Storage & Post-Filtration
Purified water is stored in a tank under pressure. Before it reaches your faucet, it may pass through a post-carbon filter to further improve taste and remove any lingering odors.
  4. Drain / Waste Flow
The “reject” stream flushes the concentrated contaminants down the drain. Proper system design ensures the waste ratio is optimized.

Benefits You Can Expect

  • Improved water taste & smell – Many users notice the difference immediately

  • Reduced contaminants – RO systems remove a broad spectrum of dissolved impurities

  • Lower plastic waste – Get near-bottled quality from your tap

  • Peace of mind – Especially helpful in homes with well water or uncertain water quality
  • Scalable options – From point-of-use (under-sink) to whole-house RO systems

Is RO Right for You?

Reverse osmosis is especially effective when your water source has:

  • High dissolved solids (TDS) or hardness

  • Elevated levels of nitrates, arsenic, fluoride, or heavy metals
  • Noticeable taste, odor, or chlorine issues

Installation & Maintenance

  • Installation: Our certified plumbers will take care of mounting the system, connecting plumbing, routing drain lines, setting up pressure controls, and testing performance.

  • Filter & Membrane Replacement: Depending on usage and water quality, filters typically need replacement every 6–12 months; membranes may last 2–5 years.
  • Annual Checkups: We can schedule yearly maintenance visits to inspect, sanitize, and calibrate your system, ensuring it continues performing optimally.
